Ma Miriam

Its been a while since I made a collage on the afrojazz theme. Here is a rendition of Ma Miriam Makeba, made mostly from scraps recycled from my studio floor.

runaway

For some unknown reason, this collage has another one on the back of it. Here's the other side, called Hokkaido, falling snow.

waiting

The other day on a fleeting visit to my local SPCA charity shop I found this pile of LP albums that had been left in a damp place for a while. It was obvious that there was no chance of anyone buying them, so I made an offer of 10 Rand, about a dollar at current exchange rates, to take them away. They were very happy with the deal. Great collage material but it was also worth it for the astonished looks on the faces of the ladies who run the shop. But they already think I'm a bit strange anyway.

When life gives you lemons, make collages

Yesterday our city decided to cut our electricity supply from 6am to 6pm to do some maintenance in our area. So, no computers, no internet, no work. But of course, one doesn't need electricity to make collages, so that's exactly what I did. Here's one of them.

curled

This is based on a sketch of Tigger. Tigger is a semi wild "bush" cat that visits at Malene's beach cottage. She kept me company while I was painting part of the ceiling where the rain had leaked in. Between coats I spent some time enjoying the way she lay in total relaxation, curled on my jersey.

Ngcobo

Having a great time exploring a new technique. I just wish I had some more time to spend playing with my collage. A Lotto win would help right now!
