I wont be posting for a while as I we are heading off to the big city for a decor trade show.  Anyway, hopefully things will calm down when I get back and I can get back to the collage fun.

Like a kid again

I came across this piece of work while looking for somwthing completely different.  I seem to recall it was done in response to a mail art call some time ago, obviously with a children's theme.  The background is collaged from all sorts of encyclopedias and the boy and bear were done by me in a spurt of illustrative enthusiasm. Sort of combining my work with my fun.

Silly collage but it is also a metaphor for finding one's way through the maze (geddit) of life. I amuse myself by sticking this type of stuff in when I send the occasional mail art envelope out.

Been having a good time making stuff like this lately.  I don't have much spare time but these things lie permanently on my drawing board and I fiddle and play when there's a bit of down time like waiting for my decrepit old scanner to work or while waiting for my editor to call me back. Its like a kind of displacement activity that stops me from looking in the fridge for something to eat.

Protest

I try to keep my day job separate from my creative endevours but violent protests and police brutality seem to be on the increase. Eight people shot dead by police in the past few days. So sad and so unnecessary.
